Tell us about yourself and your family.

I'm from Southern Maryland. I loved being close to D.C. and boy do we love eating blue crabs, but I couldn't tell you the last time I actually did, sadly. I Lived in Norfolk, VA for 7 years before moving here a year ago. I taught 4th and 5th grade before having Clark and Henry. I was nervous about teaching math, but once I started doing it, I loved it! I enjoy procrastinating, swimming, cooking, reading mysteries like Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes, Clue, etc. I do my best cleaning when I put on British period dramas like Downton Abbey and just go to town on my counter tops and floors. My husband is a helicopter pilot for the Navy and is currently on the USS John C. Stennis. They deploy in October. As a family we have enjoyed moving to the area and getting into hiking, camping, and exploring the outdoors without the pesky mosquitoes that seem to be everywhere on the East Coast. We have a cocker spaniel named Grover and he's my pal.

We LOVE living in the PNW because of all the options for outdoor activities and explorations! Seattle is also my hometown! And I do really enjoy the rain!

I love cooking, baking especially! & love Anything chocolate, peanut butter, or wine! Disney movies are my jam, even when the kids aren’t watching,

I was an athlete growing up, playing soccer and volleyball, my husband played football & baseball, and we hope that our boys will develop a love for sports and staying active with us!

What surprised you the most once you became a mom?

Oh gosh, I think what surprised me the MOST, was how much I was willing to give up and sacrifice for my kids

Tell us about yourself and your family.

For now it is just me, my husband Andrew, and our son Chandler. Andrew and I met in high school, though we never dated until we were grown and living away from our high desert hometown in California. We got married after about a year of dating and I still think marrying him was the best decision I've ever made. We are a military family so we've had the privilege of living in California, South Carolina, New York, Washington, and later this year we are heading to Rhode Island for a couple of years. We are a close knit family and we love going on new adventures, especially outdoors.

What surprised you the most once you became a mom?

So many things surprised me about becoming a mom, but I would have to say the most surprising thing was how humbling it can be, particularly as the mother of a child with Sensory Processing Disorder (which honestly makes him even more amazing in my eyes). I have gained so much patience, gratitude and open-mindedness as we've grown together and I've learned to live...

Tell us about yourself and your family.

Hi, I’m Karie. I live in Silverdale with my husband, Greg and our two kiddos, Bode (2) and Molly (1)

What surprised you the most once you became a mom?

What surprised me the most was how I was able to do everything by myself and not fall apart. My husband deployed a few weeks after Bode was born, and we lived in Okinawa. So, I had no family near me to help out or give me a break.

Why did you join FIT4MOM? Why do you love it?

When Bode was 5 months old we moved from Okinawa to Silverdale. I was so sad to leave my mom friends behind, as I just formed those friendships. I was googling “mommy and me playgroups in Kitsap” and Fit4Mom came up. I liked the FB page, and after messaging with Magda it took me about 3 weeks to actually come to class. I love Stroller Strides. I met my best friend at class, I love seeing the friendships my kids have made. I get a great workout in, and then get to hang and chat with my friends while the kids play. What’s better than...

Carolyn is one of the amazing mamas part of our Body Back program! Her energy and spirit is so positive - we love her so much!

Tell us about yourself and your family.

My name is Carolyn and I live with my husband and our six-year-old son in Poulsbo. I work full time at an Ad agency, and David works at a Software company in downtown Seattle. Conlan attends the first grade at Silverwood School here in Poulsbo. We have a small sailboat, and we love to spend time sailing, camping and hiking as a family.

What surprised you the most once you became a mom?

I'd say what surprised me the most is how all-encompassing it is. Before the baby came, David and I imagined that we would keep up with most of our pre-baby activities. This turned out to be really unrealistic for our family. Life kind-of went on hold that first year or two as we worked through nap schedules, recovered physically, mentally and emotionally, and generally got to know what the new 'us' looked like.

We like to think of ourselves as an adventurous and musical family. We love hiking and camping and have an appreciation for all types of music!

What surprised you the most once you became a mom?

These are just a few things:

Your schedule truly becomes wrapped around your child’s nap schedule (if you know what's good for you)

I'd never thought I'd be the mom to post a gazillion photos on FB and Instagram, because you know, everybody wants to see that all day long!

Buy/Trade/Sell, Ebay, OfferUP and FaceBook Marketplace have become my best friends for everything BABY.

What surprised you the most once you became a mom?

This is going to sound stupid, but the fact that you have to brush their tiny teeth! I mean duh- teeth need to be brushed, but it was about 3 months after her little chiclets sprouted that I was like- holy sh*t! Should I be brushing these things? Also- how sharp they are. They're like little razor sharp hamster teeth.

I am the youngest of 5 and the closest sibling in age to me is 16 years older than I am. I grew up a few miles down the road from my husband Trever, and although we met in Junior High, we didn't date until 4 years after graduating. Trever is a 6'6" studmuffin who has the jawline of a rugged mountain man, and I can spend hours staring at his butt (Our daughter likes to pinch random people's butts because she sees me do it to Trever WAY too much). We have a daughter, Adelaide, who is almost 2.5 and she thinks very scientifically and is a vigilant rule follower (she knows she's not supposed to walk in people's grass, so when we're at the park, she won't come to me unless she can get to me by sidewalk). We're expecting our second, baby Michael, sometime this October.

What surprised you the most once you became a mom?

How okay I am with skipping a shower. I would always much rather get an extra hour of sleep than shower.

I'm originally from O'ahu, Hawai'i where I also had met my husband, Joseph. He is in the Navy and that's how we ended up here in Washington state with our little girl, Amari.

What surprised you the most once you became a mom?

I think for me, the most surprising thing was not feeling an instant connection to my baby as soon as she was born. I bonded with our baby during pregnancy and had heard stories of how amazing the connection with your baby is the day of their birth. That wasn't the case for me, I felt I was handed this tiny human and didn't really know what to do. Luckily with time, my baby and I now have a great bond.

Why did you join FIT4MOM? Why do you love it?

I have always been quite versed at making up excuses to avoid exercising. In summer 2015, I was full of them. I was on maternity leave after the birth of my daughter, still debating if going back to work was the right choice for our family. Thumbing through the Bainbridge Island Parks and Recreation events catalog trying to find ways to get out of the house, I saw a listing for Fit4Mom Stroller Strides. It sounded like fun and one of the few things we could do while she was so small. But then the excuses started to fly. It said Stroller Strides was “a 60 minute total body workout”. After 7 years working a desk job, I was seriously out of shape. My petite figure hid it pretty well. Actually, lets be really honest, I had NEVER really worked out even before then. I had tried working with a personal trainer for a while before I got married and there were a few times when my college roommate dragged me to the university gym. But every time my excuses got in the way after just a couple of days. And the more I read that listing, the more I convinced myself there was no way I...

My WHY to start FIT4MOM in Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo was a long time coming. I had been in a job that I liked and felt comfortable in, but did not feel fulfilled. Then, on Christmas morning in 2012, I got the best gift: our son Charlie. Having Charlie changed my world and my perspective. I couldn't imagine not being with him but I struggled emotionally and felt very lost, even when I was with other mothers. After I went back to work part-time, I felt lost and pulled in many directions. When I was at work, I thought about our son. When I was with our son, I was worried about work. Nothing felt right.

When my son was about 15 months old and I had just recently found out I was pregnant with baby number two, I found out about FIT4MOM. I just happened to be sitting next to the owner of the FIT4MOM in my then neighborhood and she told me about an anniversary event the following week. I had the day off from work so I figured why not?

I was hooked. Even though I didn't know anyone, the other moms talked to me. They cheered me on. They played with my son...
