April Mom of the Month....Margi Avey!

Tell us about yourself and your family.

I’m a mom of two boys! Dylan is 10 & Conor is 3! My husband is active duty Coast Guard & we have been married for 5 years! We got married 7 months after our first date

We LOVE living in the PNW because of all the options for outdoor activities and explorations! Seattle is also my hometown! And I do really enjoy the rain!

I love cooking, baking especially! & love Anything chocolate, peanut butter, or wine! Disney movies are my jam, even when the kids aren’t watching,

I was an athlete growing up, playing soccer and volleyball, my husband played football & baseball, and we hope that our boys will develop a love for sports and staying active with us!

What surprised you the most once you became a mom?

Oh gosh, I think what surprised me the MOST, was how much I was willing to give up and sacrifice for my kids

Why did you join FIT4MOM? Why do you love it?

I joined FIT4MOM because after my first workout, I KNEW these were my people. It was an incredibly inviting community where I felt immediately at home. I love it because it allows me to have ME time & get in a REALLY GOOD workout, while also building friendships with other moms and new friends for my kiddo!

What advice would you give a first time mama to FIT4MOM Kitsap?

Talk to your neighbor! I know that it can be intimidating to workout next to a stranger, but say Hi! Ask their name and their kid’s name! They will be soooo happy to talk to you and welcome you!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? If you didn't have any obstacles, what dream would you pursue?

We are military, so at this point we are not sure WHERE we will be living 5 years out. But, I do see myself as an active member (maybe even instructor?!) At the local F4M, possibly with 1 more kiddo added to our clan. We will have bought a home & will be working on making it OURS.

What is your favorite go to piece of baby/kid gear?

Baby wipes! Hah! They work for everything!! I LOVE being able to wear babies, so a comfortable carrier is great!

Any advice for new moms? What about advice for veteran moms?

New Moms: ask for help! Veteran moms: ask for help!! So often we find ourselves needing to be ‘supermom’. And while we CAN do it all, it takes a village, and we do need the help, even when we don’t want to admit it. So ask. Your tribe will be more than happy to help, and you will be able to be superMom and happy Mom. Which means those kiddos will be happy :)
