Hi! I’m Leanne Wetzel, mother to Emiline (Emily) Lena and wife to Pete.
I am a rare military brat because I went to the same school in Kansas from kindergarten thru graduation. In fact, my parents still live in the same “temporary 4-year home” I grew up in. I went to Kansas State University to study computer science. After graduation, I went to work for Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, NE, where I met my husband.
Pete has always loved Seattle. In 2010, he took me on a Pacific Northwest road trip (including a stop to Vancover during the winter Olympics) and I was hooked. We committed to moving there “someday”. In 2013, we took the leap of a lifetime leaving our friends, family and secure jobs and started new in Bainbridge Island. I worked for a wonderful small marine software company called Tideworks. Then in March 2015, we welcomed our daughter Emiline (Emily) Lena. After she was born, I decided to stay home with her full time.
I went to my first Stroller Strides class in August 2015. (You can read more about that story here.) I didn’t have much of a background in fitness so I was very hesitant about becoming an instructor. I realized instructing gives me the opportunity to do what I love, encourage mothers. And I have loved the opportunity to learn more about kinesiology. One of the pillars of Fit4Mom is strength for motherhood. To me that means strengthening moms physically and emotionally for the daily challenges life will throw at them. Some days we need bicep curls and some days we need a hug. I feel so blessed to be apart of this wonderful group of women.
