Tell us about yourself and your family.
I am the youngest of 5 and the closest sibling in age to me is 16 years older than I am. I grew up a few miles down the road from my husband Trever, and although we met in Junior High, we didn't date until 4 years after graduating. Trever is a 6'6" studmuffin who has the jawline of a rugged mountain man, and I can spend hours staring at his butt (Our daughter likes to pinch random people's butts because she sees me do it to Trever WAY too much). We have a daughter, Adelaide, who is almost 2.5 and she thinks very scientifically and is a vigilant rule follower (she knows she's not supposed to walk in people's grass, so when we're at the park, she won't come to me unless she can get to me by sidewalk). We're expecting our second, baby Michael, sometime this October.
What surprised you the most once you became a mom?
How okay I am with skipping a shower. I would always much rather get an extra hour of sleep than shower.
Why did you join FIT4MOM? Why do you love it?
I joined because I needed friends. We had just moved here from across the country when I found the ad in the Parks & Rec handout and was thrilled about a place where I could meet people in the same life stage as me. I dawdled for months about going until Trever finally emailed Magda pretending to be me and told her I would be at class... :)
I love Fit4Mom because it gets me out of the house, gives Adelaide some much needed social time, offers great mom-only adult time, and lets me freely commiserate about how motherhood has made me far more comfortable with day drinking than I used to be ;)
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? If you didn't have any obstacles, what dream would you pursue?
In five years I hope to be able to start reclaiming some independent time for me and work. Trever jokes that I don't have hobbies, I have businesses (and it's totally true - businesses are my hobby), so I'd like to be working towards opening a studio where I would teach small, intimate cooking classes and possibly sell some pretty food photography. Ultimately, it would be a real life place to live out what my food blog teaches.
What is your favorite go to piece of baby gear?
Bumkins Sleeved Bibs. Those things saved me so much effort during laundry.
Any advice for new moms?
Raise your child the way they are bent, not the way society or competitive momming tells you you should. No one knows your child like you do, and you are great at being their mom. Trust yourself.
Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us!
I am an extreme lover of theme parties. Like...next level "ooh that escalated quickly" lover. Trever has made me promise to scale back to only one a year (a murder mystery dinner that usually takes me 4 months to plan, decorate, write, menu plan, and execute) because if given the opportunity, I would never come out of the office/craft room and blow all of our money on them.
